Staff
Jen
Jen is the Administrator for Otherworld. She recently completed her undergraduate degree in film studies, and works in web design and programming. Jen lives with her boyfriend, their two dogs (Kobi & Sachi) in Minneapolis, MN. She's a total pop culture geek, so if she's not working or writing, chances are she's either at a movie, reading Stephen King, or playing video games (World of Warcraft, baby!). Though she's still in mourning over the end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she takes solace in shows like Lost, Survivor, The O.C., Alias, and Deadwood. She's never far from her iPod, which is packed to capacity with favourite bands (Blur, Coldplay, The Killers, Oasis, Stereophonics... we could be here for days), in addition to a wide range of film scores. Other hobbies include: photography (both 35mm SLR and digital), hiking (usually with the intent of taking pictures...), and reading and collecting comics and horror novels.
Ary
Ary is the Founder of Otherworld. She created the boards in early October 2003, after hearing that a large group of people on Kelley Armstrong's Discussion Board were interested in playing in an RPG based on Kelley's books. Since no one else seemed to be interested in taking the reigns, Ary came forward and created - Tada! - the Otherworld RPG. Real life has stolen her away from administrating thte site, but she'll always be an important part of Otherworld. We were all overjoyed when she rejoined the staff in May '05. Her interests vary far too much to list here, but aside from roleplaying, her top joys are reading, writing, dancing, movies, music, and Buffy!
Montymort
Monty (a.k.a. Paul) comes to us from Liverpool, England. He joined the boards in February 2004, and graciously agreed to join the moderation team in May 2004. Despite his experiences in that capacity, in late August 2004, he inexplicably agreed to submit to even further torment by joining Kris and Jenn as a Supermod. His hobbies outside of Otherworld include mountain biking (to and from work, a good 13 miles a day!) and trawling bars around Liverpool. He lives in a state of continuous torture, er, that is, with his parents, and loves any music that isn't crap pop. WARNING: Mr. Mort is also susceptible to talking smack.
Syl
Syl is a Supermod for Otherworld, promoted from moderator in December of 2004. She joined the community in mid March 2004, and was promoted to moderator in late April. Syl loves spending time with her daughter in lovely New York. When her daughter doesn’t have her hopping from various sports practices or Girl Scout meetings (in which Syl is either a coach or a Co-Leader), you’ll find the two of them up to silly antics. Pranksters through and through, mother and daughter spend their days trying to one up each other. Syl’s hobbies include tattoos, piercings, painting, writing, dancing, driving around aimlessly, and singing. The last two she might not do all that well, but she loves it all the same. Syl loves going out with her friends to listen to live music, or watching movies. A social butterfly to the core, Syl is rarely seen in the same place with the same people. Yet another KA fan - and a fan of nearly all things written - it’s only fitting that she loves to write. Finding Otherworld was like a dream come true for Syl, and now she’s totally hooked.
Amber
Amber provides us with our Canadian content around here. (She's assured us though, that Canadians rarely say 'Eh' all the time). Calling the Toronto area home with her slightly psychotic cat, Amber loves to hang out and play with her nephews, read, Google images, drink heavily and just have fun. She has been with Otherworld almost coming on two years now, and after disappearing for a bit to live in Florida and work at Walt Disney World, she returned and joined the Mod Squad in August '04.
Feistyboy
This feisty boy's real name is Dale and he's from a tiny city called Carlisle on the English/Scottish border. Dale's been a huge KA fan since reading DSM and then from the start with Bitten. He first joined the boards back when DSM was released, and was suckered into joining the mod squad in late August, 2004. He's just moved to the parents house with my two cats and is already trying to plan his escape. Jobwise, he works in a large bookshop in the city centre that comes with perks such as advance copies of books (IM being one of them). He enjoys reading, writing, watching tv (particularly things like ER, West Wing, Fraiser, Buffy etc), and is a huge Star Wars fan. Many of his likes are nerdy but he would never describe himself that way! He also likes running through the woods with his paintball gun trying not to shoot his team, but rather the other team! On weekends, he can be found drunk and dancing on podiums to dance music and fun pop tunes.
Steve
Steve is a native Texan who is currently wandering around the globe in service to the US Army. He joined the board in February 2005 and was promoted to moderator in April 2005. When he's not working or playing on the boards, Steve loves movies, reading, writing, working out, and enjoying any sport where they'll allow him to run into other people. And on the odd occasion that Uncle Sam actually lets him go home, he loves playing with his wife and kids. He was wandering around aimlessly in a bookstore in Korea one day when he heard a book calling to him from the shelves. He picked up this book called Bitten by some Canadian chick named Kelley Armstrong. Figuring any book that could sing so well was worth the money, he purchased it; and the rest, as they say, is history.
